Why fluorescent Western blotting?
« on: December 12, 2011, 05:04:35 AM »
Hi all,

There are many reasons why choosing fluorescence Western blotting (ECL Plex):

Very high sensitivity therefore very suitable when studding low abundant proteins.

Broad dynamic range i.e. possible to detect both high and low abundant proteins at the same time and still be within linearity. This is particular important when working quantitatively.

Multiplexing possibility i.e. detect two or three proteins at the same time without striping and re-probing. This is important when studying proteins of similar size and particular important when studying post translational modifications. If working quantitatively you need to relate to a house keeping protein and this can then be performed without stripping and re-probing. No need of striping and re-probing is convenient and time saving.
